President, Organizing Committee
The 20th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology in conjunction with
the 78th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Radiology
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great honor and pleasure to invite you to the 20th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology to be held in conjunction with the 78th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Radiology (AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022) from September 20 (Tue) to 24 (Sat), 2022 in Seoul, Korea.
The world is still going through an unprecedented period, with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic thrusting everyone into an era of the New Normal. These changes are affecting not only our lives but also the medical field.
In response, the Organizing Committee has coined the new theme “Together! Toward a New Era of Radiology.” Now in this digital age, the capacities for global medical development and international cooperation are required more than ever to prepare for the future and strengthen our competitiveness.
In line with the above, the Organizing Committee is designing the best possible program with high quality scientific sessions that will provide a great opportunity for all participants to keep up-to-date with the latest research findings. To serve this purpose, AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022 is not only organizing Joint Symposiums with the leading 11 Asian radiology associations as well as various AI-related sessions including AI Special Focus, AI Hands-on Workshop, and AI Keynote Lecture, but we are also planning to invite a large number of world-renowned speakers and delegates to share their insights and achievements.
The Korean Society of Radiology (KSR), the organizing society, successfully hosted KCR in a virtual format in 2020 and a hybrid format in 2021 with a total of more than 3,500 participants attending the congresses. As such, organizing committee is confident that we have the experience to overcome this uncertain situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare a most successful AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022 that participants can fully engage in and enjoy whichever way they may choose to attend it.
It is the wish of the KSR to have the privilege again this year to share its experience and knowhow with colleagues from all over the world through AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022. We cordially urge the members of the radiology societies in each Asian country to extend your unsparing support and interest to help us make AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022 a great success, and deeply hope that the COVID-19 situation will have improved significantly by the time of the congress so that we may meet in person and have a true festival of academic exchange and friendship.
Please stay safe and healthy until we meet at AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022!
Jeong Min Lee, MD, PhD
President
Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology
To my dear colleagues from Asia Oceania and the world over, I am delighted and honored to welcome everyone to the 20th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR 2022) being held in conjunction with the 78th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Radiology (KCR 2022) in the vibrant, wonderful city of Seoul in South Korea.
In the past, KSR hosted the 1987 and 2008 AOCRs. The first AOCR was held in Melbourne, Australia in 1971. Until 1995, the AOCR was a quadrennial event, then triennial until 2006, and subsequently became biennial until 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic caused upheaval to many meetings and congresses around the world, not just for our region. As a result, the planned 2020 AOCR was postponed to 2021 resulting in two AOCRs in 2021, the milestone year where AOCRs became annual and when AOSR celebrated its Golden Anniversary.
I am proud to say, the radiology and its allied sciences community have taken the prolonged pandemic in its stride. The AOCR 2022 & KCR 2022 theme “Together! Toward a New Era of Radiology” is very appropriate as the radiology and its allied community at large work hand in hand to wade through the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and emerge stronger because of the crisis. Our related professions have built greater resilience and continue to stay at the forefront of technology including Artificial Intelligence. The pandemic catalyzed and accelerated the harnessing of digital tools. I believe, it heralds a new era of radiology - how we deliver radiology services, train, collaborate and exchange technology and scientific information with each other has evolved.
Congratulations to the Organizing Committee, under the very able leadership of Prof Dr Jeong Min Lee. The hybrid meeting program has something for everyone – from refresher courses, scientific sessions, AI to multidisciplinary team sessions and more! Take some time to appreciate and enjoy the exhibits of the photo contest, which has been a regular feature of the KCRs. There is still another innovative contest, the User Created Contents Contest for which both online and on-site delegates can take part in.
On behalf of the AOSR, we would like to thank the Korean Society of Radiology (KSR) for hosting the AOCR2022 and look forward to yet another successful event and outstanding experience. Despite some “border controls” of varying degrees in different parts of the world, we hope to see some foreign delegates arrive in person safely and others virtually in the on-line realm. No matter in what form, enjoy the congress.
See you at the AOCR 2022 – KCR 2022!
